“Why Did We Choose Those Street Names?” As the City of Ludington grew from a small lumbering village into the vibrant community it is now, streets were platted and named. Some of those street name selections were obvious; Ludington Avenue and James Street were named in honor of James Ludington, the founding father of Ludington. Other streets were named for individuals, activities, geographic features and a myriad of other sometimes obscure reasons. This presentation by Mason County Historical Society President James Jensen will highlight the stories behind the names of streets throughout the city.
