Description
“An 1890’s Pub Crawl”: James Ludington had declared that the city named in his honor in 1874 would be “dry”; alcohol would not be sold or consumed. Things did not work out as he planned. Within a decade, over 30 saloons dotted the streets of this new town. This pub crawl from the 1890’s starts at the south end of Madison Street and continues along 2nd Street, Washington Ave., Loomis St., James St. and Ludington Ave., stopping at several of these new and popular “establishments.”
