Since 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary has continually worked to ease the burdens facing our veterans, military, and their families. We step up every year and collectively provide over 6 million hours assisting our veterans and communities. We’re real people helping real veterans. Fulfilling our obligations to veterans whose needs go far beyond the treatment they receive in the VA health care system is an expensive task, so we must rely on the generosity of our loyal supporters to continue our many outreach programs. Our mission to assist veterans, military, and their families has never been more critical than it is today. Nearly half of post-9/11 veterans are being diagnosed with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) or TBI (traumatic brain injury). Suicide rates among these veterans have climbed to startling figures. And many volunteer servicemembers have been deployed to war zones multiple times. Clearly our work is not finished and will not be for many decades. By sending your most generous gift, we can continue to provide comfort and care to these heroic U.S. servicemembers who are so highly deserving of everything we can possibly do for them.
