This beautifully restored, 1910-era barn was built by Native Ottawa Indian, Henry Shagway and his uncle, Pete Espiew. The 'Blazing Star' barn quilt on the northern face of the barn, is dedicated to Henry. A brief history about Henry and the barn can be heard by using the On-Cell device on the post at the base of the barn. (Get a map at the Chamber of Commerce and check out the ten other barns on the Mason Co. Barn Quilt Trail!)
This season we will feature monthly Art & Craft Shows with work inside and outside the barn, along with live music, food, and games! Look for a schedule to be posted soon...
And of course, the Arts Barn is a fantastic location to host your event - wedding, birthday party, reunion, fundraiser, meeting, or anniversary! Contact us now to schedule yours!
Guests will enjoy roaming the pet-friendly trails through the surrounding 40 acres of meadows and woods; taking a step back into early 20th-century history while exploring the history of the barn with its new loft and balcony and exploring the cabin and granary, also built by Henry and Pete.
Tourists and residents alike will be attracted to the scenic setting, the historic architecture, the unique art, and live music!
