  • About

In 1948, Hollis and Frances Tate began the family owned business known as the Tate Funeral Home. From their funeral home, located on Dryden and Church Streets, the Tate family began serving the families of Hart and the surrounding Oceana County area. Following many years of service to the community from that location, the Tate Funeral Home merged with the Weaver Funeral Home. The Weaver Funeral Home was founded and operated by Donald Weaver. The Tate Funeral Home located for years on Dryden Street was closed and the operation moved to 301 S. State Street in the area of downtown Hart. The business was known as the Tate-Weaver Funeral Home. In 1994, Paul Tate had sold the Tate-Weaver Funeral Home. In 2004, the funeral home re-located to 72nd Avenue and Polk Road. The business was then known as the Tate Funeral Chapel. In 2006, Bradley and Rita King purchased the funeral home and was named the Tate-King Funeral Home. In 2010, the funeral home was re-named and became the King Funeral Home. Since 1948, it has been providing funerals of tribute and continues to be family owned and operated.
